Nourish’s director Pete Ritchie has been invited to take part in the newly established Food Commission.
May sees the second meeting of the Commission which has been tasked with advocating for the Good Food Nation policy and advising Scottish Government on how to implement it.
Chaired by Shirley Spear, the Commission brings together diverse perspectives from farmers, communities, food businesses, health, education, life sciences, children and young people.
The first meeting was about scene-setting and there was a strong endorsement of the group’s importance and independence from Cabinet Secretary Richard Lochhead. There was also a clear commitment from government to work across departments to support and enable the policy.
The Commission now has to agree its priorities and work programme for the first year, and use its mandate to encourage and chase progress towards the Good Food Nation aspirations.
