Field of Enquiry: 10 Workshops exploring the food system through the 2000m2 lens

When you divide all the arable land on our planet by the number of people living on Earth, we each have 2000m2. In their “Our global & local field – 2000m2 Field of Enquiry” workshops series, Whitmuir want to explore the food system through the 2000m2 lens. Over 10 Saturdays, topic by topic, (dates and topics below) they will examine the current state of affairs, make sense of the pressures on the system and, as enquirers, the participants will frame the questions we should ask our scientists, farmers and politicians to answer if we are to do things differently.

The workshops will be informed by a Scientific Advisory Group, involving some of our finest scientists, nutritionists, ecologists, advisors and farmers.  At the end of the series of events, in March 2017, those experts will be presented with the findings and questions of the Enquiry.
The aim of the Enquiry is to bring together a diverse group of participants to mirror all aspects of our food system – cooks, growers, environmentalists, teachers, grandmothers, policy advisors, people who work in and for the food system.  Because numbers on the Field of Enquiry Team are limited, people can attend individual sessions, but priority places will be reserved for those who can attend the whole programme. If you would like to join the Enquiry Team, please tell email heather@whitmuircommunityfarm.org and, in no more than 100 words, let her know
  • your key areas of interest;
  • any relevant groups or associations you belong to and would hope to influence, and
  • the first question you would like our Field of Enquiry to explore.
Deadline for signing up to the series of 10 workshops: 19th September. Further available places will be allocated on a case-to-case basis.
