National Veg Summit 2023

Tuesday 31 October 2023 | Edinburgh International Conference Centre

The National Veg Summit is coming to Edinburgh this autumn.

With the passing of the Good Food Nation bill in 2022, we must now make the plans to deliver on its demands and become a good food nation. We can’t do this without thinking about veg.

This year’s Summit is your invitation to be part of a crucial conversation – and the next step – in Scotland becoming a Good Food Nation.

Join Nourish Scotland for a day of veg-centred discussions, displays and, of course, eating at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

To sign-up for the veg competition, please follow the above link and book your spot.

THE PROGRAMME.

Open dialogues

10-1pm.

From Government to growers, caterers to communities, the event will be bringing together perspectives from across the food system to have open discussions about making it easier to eat veg in Scotland.

The dialogues will be centred around short provocations from a range of speakers, sparking table-by-table veg-centred discussions. The intention being to both network and strategise ways forward.

Expect thought-provoking input from: Argyl & Bute Council | ASSIST FM | Central & West Integration Network | Compass Scotland | Food Sense Wales | Food Standards Scotland | Kettle Produce (tbc) | Lauriston Farm | Nourish Scotland | Peas Please Veg Advocates | Scottish Government

Veg Display Competition

All day.

In the spirit of having fun with veg, we’re running a Best Scottish Veg Display competition. This will be a great way to showcase the vegetables being grown around us here in Scotland.

We’ll also be embracing our love of vegetables by dazzling you with exhibitions and cookery demonstrations – all of which put veg at the centre.

Need some inspiration for entering your veg in the competition? Check out these displays!

Veg-centred feast.

Lunch

Eat a seasonal and locally sourced veg-centred lunch from Prue Leith’s award-winning kitchens. After all, there can be no celebration without a feast.
