In collaboration with The Power of Food Festival, RSPB Scotland’s Giving Nature a Home team would like to invite you to an afternoon full of exciting discussions and workshops around wildlife, food production and sustainability.

The RSPB’s mission is to inspire a future richer in nature and agriculture is such a big part of achieving this. Food affects the environment in many ways but it can be produced, packaged, sold and eaten in ways that are better for nature. We want to make nature-friendly food and farming the norm.

It’s time for change!

Whatever you can do, or dream you canbegin itBoldness hasgeniuspower, and magic in it’ – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

This year, the Scottish government will be consulting on a new law for the food system, the Good Food Nation Bill – we need your help to change our food system for the better. There are already a lot of passionate groups and individuals in Edinburgh actively working towards creating the food system that we want to see. However, to make full use of this amazing opportunity and influence the direction our government is taking on food, we all need to come together and decide how to work effectively on making a real difference for the future.

This event aims to bring together organisations, community gardens and food producers in Edinburgh. We want to provide a forum for anyone who is involved in local food, campaigning or who is just interested in finding out more about this issue, to get together and start to raise our voices and advocate for policy change on both local and national scales

The event will be on the 15th of June will start with some short talks from The Power of Food Festival, RSPB and Nourish to set the scene and inspire our conversations, then we will move onto some workshops on making change happen together. We are lucky enough to be holding the event at Granton Hub, an inspiring community site in north Edinburgh, where we have use of the downstairs rooms and surrounding gardens. From about 6pm onwards we will be having a picnic with some contributions from Food Sharers Edinburgh, so bring along a tasty picnic and enjoy some music from local performers in the community garden.
